A little of EVERYTHING

I have totally been slacking on cooking new recipes lately, I do have a recipe

As I blog, I am on the way to visit my fam(ily) in good ole’ Tallahassee…I am hoping to catch a few friends while we are there also ! And snag a boat trip from my parents ;) Lola is such a pleasant travel buddy !!

I swear this week seemed like the longest week everrrrr ! So thankful it is over … We had a 95degree day today . Blehhhh!!! hopefully Tallahassee won’t be as hot ( wishful thinking )

In the midst of cleaning a patients teeth today , I was thinking of how similar keeping up with your body was very similar to car maintenance.. SO RANDOM .. I know I know .. If you don’t clean your teeth , it effects your heart.. Blah blah blah… If you don’t get oil changes it effects the motor .. Blah blah blah …I even said I wouldn’t post this on my blog due to how random my thought was … Oh well..

I totally forgot… I am back in school to get my BS and hopefully heading to grad school !!! ( who would have thunk it ;D ) I am running full force and very excited actually !

Don and I are getting excited for the month of may ! We are taking our first vacation in the longest time ! Totally needed ;)

Enough of the random ‘everything’ post for the week ! I ll get back on my blogging game shortly !

Happy Weekend ! Happy Easter! Happy Passover !

WHAT A WEDNESDAY !!!!

Some may compare a dental hygienist like going to cosmetology school…that’s NOT the case and very far from right ( A patient of mine said this to me). Did you know that your dental hygienist actually takes 88 credit hours of non stop science courses including embryology ( yes having a baby can affect your oral health in many ways), oral pathology ( cancer, oral lesions, diseases ), and Pharmacology ( tons of medications affect your oral cavity) AMONG MANY MORE! Although I am not an expert at ANY of the above mentioned courses, I am pretty darn confident at what I know and I am proud of it. I continue to study as I continue in my career. This profession is exhausting but very very rewarding !

I do not know what has been going on the past few weeks but it seems like I have had some really  tough patients. I will warn you.. I am providing pictures of what today was like at work.

Severe gingivitis. . . LOTS and LOTS of BLEEDING

Heavy Calculus Build Up ( aka tartar)

Recession AND stain !

Hopefully this post has encouraged all of you to brush 2x a day, floss at least 1xa day and rinse with an antibacterial mouth rinse ( Listerne, ACT). See your dentist on a regular basis, recommended atleast 2x a year :)

Thankful Thursday

I am incredibly thankful that tomorrow is FRIDAY ! The past few days have been very hard at work! I don’t know what it is but my patients have been so hard … No cleaning in 5 years, smokers Lungs, alcohol breath, periodontal disease and TONS of bleeding ! This makes my job incredibly hard and stressful ! Today I was working on a patient and the calculus ( aka tartar to the public) was tough and very deep under the gums . After a patient like this, I am exhausted! I could have brought the patient back for a second cleaning but I didnt . . . The cleaning was so tough I broke and instrument as
I was cleaning ! Aghh… My heart started beating very quickly … I probably went into A-fib … It happens .. Just so happens it was my first time experiencing it .. Not uncommon especially with older instruments ! My patient quickly laughed and said ” I must be given you a work out ” …

Thank God Tomorrow is Friday!
