The Face Behind the Mask

It never dawned on me the faces I make while I am cleaning teeth. Thank goodness I wear a mask. I started thinking about this on Friday when I was cleaning a patient who had stinky break and realized I made a VERY SOFT “phew” sound, turned up my nose and backed my head away from the smell. I am only hoping the patient didn’t hear me over the suctions, drilling and music throughout the office.

After this little incident, I kept giggling because I started noticing that I make weird faces .

Happies and Crappies

Happies

I had my first bridal shower on Saturday ! My grandmothers bible study class ( which I know most of them) decided to throw it for me. It was very very thoughtful and MUCH appreciated!

Superbowl Sunday was pretty low key for us. EXACTLY what we wanted. We usually host events like this but I just didn’t have it in me this year. We wanted to be able to go to bed whenever we wanted and not feel obligated to stay up because we had guest over. Our neighbors we very gracious and invited us over this year. It was very nice. Although.. I wasnt very impressed with the half time show this year!

This week our wedding invitations went out. VERY EXCITING! Just makes the date feel that much closer !!!!! A friend of ours texted me yesterday letting us know she received hers in the mail!

Speaking of weddings, Yesterday we received a save the date for some of our closest friends, Kendra and Andrew!! There wedding is in august and we are excited to travel that way !!! We have already purchased our plane tickets that’s how excited we are!!!! Woo-hoo

Sunday we began landscaping our front yard. It needs help. We have a dying sago palm that makes me want to cry. I hate sagos! They are every where in central Florida ! Bleh.. Hopefully it wont be THAT difficult to get it out of our yard.

I finished my 2012 taxes. What a relief!!!

Being a dental hygienist we have to take continuing education courses in order to renew our state license every 2 years. I promised myself I was going to take one each month that way when renewal time came around I wasnt scrounging around to take as many courses as I could. That promise didn’t last BUT I did start taking to CEUs and caught myself up to where I need to be to keep on that track. Another relief!

CRAPPIES

This week went SO fast, meaning the weekend will go by fast. Sloooooooow dowwwwwwn please!

Saturday I went to my hometown, Tallahassee, to have my bridal gown altered. Someone could have picked up my jaw off the floor when she told me how much it was going to cost!!! Who would have known such MINOR alterations could cost some MAJOR mulah!!  The positive thing is I would look that much better :)

Because I was in Tallahassee, getting ripped off on alterations ( haha), I missed our good friends, Rachael and Will, engagement party. Boo!!!

Don has an old{er} car. It leaks oil, cant roll the window down, interior lights don’t work, among a few other little things. Its very temperamental. It works when it wants and doesnt when you really really need it to. Thank the lord for AAA! Its time to go car shopping…. Ehhhhh !

Needless to say, I think I had more happies than crappies this week! I am very thankful for that !

FRIDAY LETTERS

Dear Yogurt – I recommended you to a few people, including one of my patients. I followed up with her this week to see how it worked for her. She said it worked miracles. Her face was extremely red, irritated and bumpy like mine. Thanks for being a natural remedy to facial irritations and much more !

Dear Nurse – You did such a great job inserting the needle in my vein to retrieve blood. I did not feel it all nor did I bruise. I wish they were all like you !!!

Dear Grammy – I hope you had such a good birthday this week. It is always good to talk to you ! I love you …{VERY MUCH}

Dear Coffee – I am not a huge fan of drinking you because you stain teeth and cause stinky breath BUT since I read that you help boost metabolism ( probably not but I will go along with that) I will share  some of my mornings with you.. How about that?

Happy New Year to everyone ! I am
Hoping everyone had an amazing Christmas and NY! I did and I really don’t want to to back to work tomorrow ! I always tell my self that I don’t want to make resolutions because at some point during the 365 days I will fall off track and I will be disappointed! This year I am actually setting goals (resolutions) and I am hoping to obtain them….

Stop biting my nails ( again – but this time for good )

Run a half marathon ( 13.1 miles )

Blog ALOT more

Cook ALOT of NEW & HEALTHY food

Create a daily relationship with God

….I think the few I have set are reasonable and very obtainable ! What are your New Years resolutions ?

Catch Up

I just can’t seem to catch up with life lately! I feel as if my body is 10 steps behind my brain ! I guess I can be thankful it’s not the other way around . The new addition is going good. Lola was a bit standoff-ish for the first few days but she has warmed up to Sully (hooray).

Having a brand new puppy hasn’t been horrible like I thought it was going to be. Thank goodness for Lola because she has made having a puppy a little easier. Potty training is better than most… We have had about three accidents in the house, the worst one being on our BRAND. NEW. MATTRESS . It happens and I am not going to moan and groan about it. I’m still happy with the decision we made to get a second dog.

I have been so busy lately. This past Saturday I hosted a bridal shower for a girlfriend of mine who is also in my wedding. I had a lot of fun doing it and it turned out great. It makes a me look forward to the bridal showers I have in the near future! Speaking of wedding stuff… We have about four months to go until Don and I tie the not… I feel like we have so many ‘little’ details to do for our wedding. I feel suffocated thinking about them… blehhhh! I am thankful I jumped the gun and did a lot of the big stuff early on.

I have made a big effort into making time to improve my running. I am running 4 miles every other day ( most of the time) . This week I have set a goal to up it to 5 miles. I am excited to see how it goes. I never thought I would be running as much as I am now and actually enjoy doing it. A good friend of mine has asked me to do a half marathon… I am really considering it ! 13.1 doesn’t scare me like it used to !!!

We have had a handful of young adults move into our neighborhood lately. I love this ! Don and I, along with our surrounding neighbors have decided to have / host a neighborhood block party this coming Saturday ! We are excited to meet all the new neighbors and hope we have a great turn out!

I have recently been diagnosed with perioral dermatitis. It is horrible !! It is a red rash that consist of tiny bumps that surround your mouth ,nose and eyes… Ughhhhh ! Apparently it is hard to treat. I started using a steroid cream temporarily until I could get into the dermatologist … That was the WRONG thing to do. This particular skin rash worsens upon steroid use… WONDERFUL! I have been reading multiple blogs and dependable scientific websites on ways I can treat my face in addition to the antibiotics and prescription creams I have been given… Apparently apple cider vinegar is know to help. I am definitely going to try this !

Kitchen Re-do

Woah – have I been MIA lately or what ! Life is just busy and I definitely have had more important things to do then to TRY entertain you with a blog post ;0) I would rather write a post of substance rather then stuff you really don’t care about !

I think my last post was a Wordless Wednesday post regarding what we have been up to around the house … If you haven’t seen that post , your about to find out ! This house we bought has original everything ! Particularly the kitchen … It’s just a small galley style kitchen .. It’s okay , I am not in love with it however it serves the purpose it is supposed to and that’s all I need for my first home. Since we have started taking a liking to making this house ours,  when I mean ours , I’m not talking financially , I am talking personality, We decided to start on the kitchen !

Counter tops are everything in a kitchen as well as the cabinets . They also can come with a hefty price tag! Both of us agreed we did not want to put thousands of dollars into this home so we did minimal updates. We took the original cabinets and added hardware just to give them a little face life ! We extended one of our counters by adding In wine fridge into the cabinets. We definitely needed extra counter space. The biggest change was the granite counter tops and a new sink with hardware !

We had some issues with the installation and plumbing so we were with out water for a few days. Washing dishes outside brings a whole new perspective to things . Blehhhh

After all, it turned out nice and happy with the way things look ! We are still in the process of tiling our back splash but will be done with that very soon ! I can’t wait to host my first thanksgiving !

Being a Bride.. In my opinion!!!!

I always thought being on the other side of things I would feel different…but I don’t. I know being a bridesmaid your there to support and be at the beacon call for the bride however I beg to differ! Possibly Its me just being a low key, easy going bride  !  I don’t expect my bridesmaids to do everything at a drop of a hat for me, and neither will  I do that for at one else!  I believe just because your getting married does not give you the right away to abuse your friends or family.  I can hardly even watch the show bridezilla because it really disgust me. People always say its your wedding do what you want… Of course that’s true, but by an means does that mean my friends and family shouldn’t struggle or do something that don’t want to because THE BRIDE said so. In the wedding world, I don’t find it fair for the bridal party  to absorb all the cost for a bachlorette parties, bridal showers and the list goes on. Being in a wedding is almost like a full time job, except instead of making money, your spending it!  I will say that I yet have been in a situation where I have not wanted, or been told I had to do something, however I have been in very few weddings and I am sure one of these days I will be in a position where I just don’t agree… The weddings I have been in, all of THREE, I have been upfront and not participated in events whether I was busy, out of town or financially not able to. I don’t think I should put my finances at risk for some one else. WOULD YOU ?

Friends make comments to me about stupid stuff that I could care less about ( wedding stuff) . I am not a diva. Things that may bother others, Don’t bother me. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am the level headed one! After-all if something isn’t 100% perfect at my wedding, that’s okay ! Its not supposed to be !

Life Lately

I have been to lazy to cook anything new lately ! I really need to get on the ball . Not to sure about you , but I get REAL bored eating the same ole’ stuff week to week ! Maybe I will be up to cooking something new soon enough !

Don and I have been talking about getting a new addition for our family pretty soon … & no not a baby ( soon enough though !!! ) Lola needs a friend! I can’t even fathom another German shepherd in this house … Oh my goodness ALL THE HAIR !! But don and I both agree that would be the perfect dog to get however we have discussed other options such as a labradoodle or a standard poodle ! Both have the same qualities of a GSD except they don’t shed or they shed ALOT less ! I am worried if we get a standard poodle we wouldn’t stay on top of the maintenance they require ! Any thoughts ?

We have started updating our kitchen ! Friday our granite countertops will be installed and I. Can’t. Wait. We currently have horrible looking laminate tops that weren’t taken care of prior to us buying this home ! We also have decided to expand the countertop space by adding in a built in wine fridge! Yippee !! We aren’t doing much with cabinets except adding some hardware ! This will be a post with in itself SOON !

This morning I got a text message from don regarding tile in our bathroom! Uh-oh ! We have a walk in shower and the floor tile has started to come off ! We are SUPER paranoid that we have a leak .. Not to mention this bathroom
Is directly above the kitchen ! Another home project coming our way …quickly !!!

Just yesterday , we had 9 months to go until our wedding and now it’s only 6 months away ! Woah does time fly ! Soon we will be stuffing envelopes and sending out invitations ! I have registered at all the places I wanted to ( BBB, Macy’s, William-Sonoma, crate & barrel and lastly… pottery barn ). Registering was fun at first but became very exhausting !

I have not blogged about my running lately but yes I am still running ! I have stayed at running two miles for a long time but recently got the urge to lengthen my run! This is kind of weird but, I felt like my muscles were almost begging me to run longer ! Weird , I know but apparently it’s a common feeling for runners ! I have started running 4 miles ! ;0)
