Being a Bride.. In my opinion!!!!

I always thought being on the other side of things I would feel different…but I don’t. I know being a bridesmaid your there to support and be at the beacon call for the bride however I beg to differ! Possibly Its me just being a low key, easy going bride  !  I don’t expect my bridesmaids to do everything at a drop of a hat for me, and neither will  I do that for at one else!  I believe just because your getting married does not give you the right away to abuse your friends or family.  I can hardly even watch the show bridezilla because it really disgust me. People always say its your wedding do what you want… Of course that’s true, but by an means does that mean my friends and family shouldn’t struggle or do something that don’t want to because THE BRIDE said so. In the wedding world, I don’t find it fair for the bridal party  to absorb all the cost for a bachlorette parties, bridal showers and the list goes on. Being in a wedding is almost like a full time job, except instead of making money, your spending it!  I will say that I yet have been in a situation where I have not wanted, or been told I had to do something, however I have been in very few weddings and I am sure one of these days I will be in a position where I just don’t agree… The weddings I have been in, all of THREE, I have been upfront and not participated in events whether I was busy, out of town or financially not able to. I don’t think I should put my finances at risk for some one else. WOULD YOU ?

Friends make comments to me about stupid stuff that I could care less about ( wedding stuff) . I am not a diva. Things that may bother others, Don’t bother me. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am the level headed one! After-all if something isn’t 100% perfect at my wedding, that’s okay ! Its not supposed to be !

Tomorrow is FRIDAY ! Yipppppeeee

Engagement Photo Sneak Peak

Today our photographer emailed us a few photos from our engagement photo shoot. Here is how our day went…

We arrived in St Augustine around 5:00pm . Of course as soon as we got there a storm started brewing. We met with our photographer and begin our walk to start shooting. We had planned to change into two other outfits but because we were walking and walking and walking we decided to leave the outfits behind. This was a horrible mistake on my behalf because the first outfit I had chosen was the worst possible outfit for my body type. Oh well, I cant do anything about it now. Our photographer was great and took us to places I would have never imagined taking a photo in front of . Here are a few of the engagement photos. Enjoy !

265 Days till we get married! Happy Sunday !

Asking the girls

I picked 6 close girls that I wanted to share this intimate day with, 2 being family and 4 being friends. This was one of first hurdles to get over since we started to plan our wedding. I seriously could have had several attendants but I was encouraged not to by several people, less is more! I love and adore all of my friends and wish I could have them all in the wedding.

I really wanted a fun, random way of asking my bridesmaids. I actually remembered this really cute idea I pinned on my wedding pinterest board.

I definitely used this same concept, however I chose my own wording. The letters on the outside of the boxes are the first initial of each bridesmaids name. Two of the boxes actually had their full name, only because I had each letter :0)

I made confetti out of BRIGHT printing paper I had in my scrapbook box. After the confetti came the tags that read, “I cant say I DO, with out YOU, Will you be my bridesmaid, ( one said maid of honor).

and last BUT not least, I added the special touch…. A RING POP … how appropriate :0) I thought it was the cutest idea and I think some of my bridesmaids did to ! I kept mine in the package because I was asking everyone at random times and did not need ants crawling in my house and car!

I look forward to introducing you to my bridal party, at least my side… Don is still in the making ! Happy Monday, and if you are like me and live in FLORIDA, try and stay dry !!!!

Words for thought…

I am still thinking I am in a long dream and not waking from this great moment we have had! I am so happy we are able to spend the rest of our lives together.

Announcing our engagement has been a very happy thing for us. The way people react to the news has made me think a lot about how other people may view engagements and marriage! I know how I feel about marriage, but how about other people?

Some of the first questions/comment I get asked after spreading the news ….
1. Let me see your ring ….
2. How big is your ring ?
3. How much was your ring ?
4. Have you set a date yet?

Are you freaking kidding me? I don’t care who you are, I find it down right rude to ask someone, besides can I see your ring?, the dynamics of their engagement ring. Of course we all like beautiful jewelry, but getting engaged is more than just having a ring. It’s about the commitment between the two of you and spending the rest of your life together .

I would give no thought if Don proposed with out a ring or even a solid band. I am not materialistic at all. It just makes me think wether people really understand the TRUE commitment for marriage or if they find it just fun to wear the beautiful symbol to impress people. What are your thoughts ?

Until then… I am still deciding where
To have my wedding . It’s frustrating ! HELP !!!!

The Proposal !

It was a typical Friday afternoon where I got off work and we headed up to a local neighborhood restaurant for a late lunch / early dinner ! Something I like to call ‘Linner’. It just finished raining and the sun came out bright as could be. Both don and I LOVE being on the water… Who doesn’t ?

We decided to head to this restaurant / bar right on Lake Jessup. We grabbed our drinks and headed to the water, as close to the water as we could get and away from all the people. We talked and talked and talked about everyday life and started talking about marriage ( actually a discussion we talk about a lot).

Out of know where, Don said can you keep a secret ? And of course I immediately said yes! Don repeatedly asked me If I would promise not to tell any one , mostly my family ! He told me he had a ring at home and he couldn’t wait any longer !!!!!

I thought he was joking ! He wasn’t! He asked if we could leave the lake to go home. As soon as we got home, he was on one knee and popped the question !

I actually did keep it from family till we saw them one week later for vacation! They were over flowing with joy ! It was very important to Don that we told them in person and not on the phone ;)

I can’t stop looking at my hand. At one point the little muscles in my hand became sore from flexing my hand for people to see my ring when they asked. Which I have quickly found out that’s the first thing people ask when you tell them you got engaged. He did a great job picking it out ;) I wouldn’t ask for anything more .

I am looking forward to using my blog as a way to share my planning , stress and even get ideas from fellow bloggers ! Let’s get started !

Thankful Thursday

I have talked much about my boyfriend Don… but I really haven’t spoke much for my furry four legged friend Lola ! She is almost 4 years old and very energetic ! Although she leaves her fur laying everywhere in the house , even dust bunnies can’t find there way to hide in the corners , I am very thankful she is a part of this family ;o) 20120209-205320.jpg20120209-205425.jpg

Our Love Story

Our Love Story <3
How long have you and your significant other been together?
   – Don and I have been dating for 5 Years and 9 months!
 How did you meet? {What’s your “love” story?}
  – We actually met through Dons best friend, David! Through my first part of college I worked at an Acura dealership with David. David and I became good friends as we worked together. David introduced me to Don one night when we were all hanging out together. At first, I really had no interest in trying to date anyone. . .  nor did I expect to fall in love with someone I was going to be hanging out with that night. Don and I did not exchange numbers that evening. David actually gave Don my AIM ( yes… instant messaging LOL ) screen name. We talked several nights, maybe even a few weeks through instant messaging. Finally, Don asked me to come hang out by the pool one Saturday afternoon. Well, one Saturday led to the next Saturday and that Saturday led to every weekend I was with him. It was actually very natural! One night Don, myself and another couple we were with ( Rachel and Will ) decided to take a bottle of wine to the hot tube and relax. After one glass of wine, Rachel and Will decided to leave. After that things got steamy :0) This was the night of our first kiss and the ‘finalization’ of our relationship. Since then, We have been going steady and loving every minute of it !
 If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}
   – Of course this is the guy I hope to marry. any day now please ??? lol. I have learn to become very patient with this situation and I believe  it will happen sooner rather than later :)

Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
  — Don sometimes calles me Buttercup … I use the typical nicknames…Babe.. Baby …
Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
– He is my best friend…No DOUBT!  We can lay in bed and just make each other laugh with the simplest things and I know he will be there for me if  I ever need anything :)
Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
– Ideal proposal…. At this point anything is ideal :0) LOL !!! I would be so thankful for any kind of proposal !!!
Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
– To be honest.. none of the above. . .  Red wine, ordered in pizza and a great movie ! WE have been doing this for every valentines day we have been together and I absolutely love it!
Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
Both. There is a time for sunset dinners and a movie / couch night. !
Tell us one thing you’d like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
– If I could do ANYTHING … that would be to go to Japan or some other crazy foreign country and eat all the delicious , but weird food.. but as my blog readers know you may have caught that Don is a VERY picky eater.
Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine’s Day.
– Red Wine, Order in pIzza and Watch a movie !
Are you asking for anything this Valentine’s day?
– Nope !

Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
– Be open with each other. Your not just lovers, you best friends
