Catch Up

I just can’t seem to catch up with life lately! I feel as if my body is 10 steps behind my brain ! I guess I can be thankful it’s not the other way around . The new addition is going good. Lola was a bit standoff-ish for the first few days but she has warmed up to Sully (hooray).

Having a brand new puppy hasn’t been horrible like I thought it was going to be. Thank goodness for Lola because she has made having a puppy a little easier. Potty training is better than most… We have had about three accidents in the house, the worst one being on our BRAND. NEW. MATTRESS . It happens and I am not going to moan and groan about it. I’m still happy with the decision we made to get a second dog.

I have been so busy lately. This past Saturday I hosted a bridal shower for a girlfriend of mine who is also in my wedding. I had a lot of fun doing it and it turned out great. It makes a me look forward to the bridal showers I have in the near future! Speaking of wedding stuff… We have about four months to go until Don and I tie the not… I feel like we have so many ‘little’ details to do for our wedding. I feel suffocated thinking about them… blehhhh! I am thankful I jumped the gun and did a lot of the big stuff early on.

I have made a big effort into making time to improve my running. I am running 4 miles every other day ( most of the time) . This week I have set a goal to up it to 5 miles. I am excited to see how it goes. I never thought I would be running as much as I am now and actually enjoy doing it. A good friend of mine has asked me to do a half marathon… I am really considering it ! 13.1 doesn’t scare me like it used to !!!

We have had a handful of young adults move into our neighborhood lately. I love this ! Don and I, along with our surrounding neighbors have decided to have / host a neighborhood block party this coming Saturday ! We are excited to meet all the new neighbors and hope we have a great turn out!

I have recently been diagnosed with perioral dermatitis. It is horrible !! It is a red rash that consist of tiny bumps that surround your mouth ,nose and eyes… Ughhhhh ! Apparently it is hard to treat. I started using a steroid cream temporarily until I could get into the dermatologist … That was the WRONG thing to do. This particular skin rash worsens upon steroid use… WONDERFUL! I have been reading multiple blogs and dependable scientific websites on ways I can treat my face in addition to the antibiotics and prescription creams I have been given… Apparently apple cider vinegar is know to help. I am definitely going to try this !

I hope everyone had a fantastic Monday !!!!

Life Lately

I have been to lazy to cook anything new lately ! I really need to get on the ball . Not to sure about you , but I get REAL bored eating the same ole’ stuff week to week ! Maybe I will be up to cooking something new soon enough !

Don and I have been talking about getting a new addition for our family pretty soon … & no not a baby ( soon enough though !!! ) Lola needs a friend! I can’t even fathom another German shepherd in this house … Oh my goodness ALL THE HAIR !! But don and I both agree that would be the perfect dog to get however we have discussed other options such as a labradoodle or a standard poodle ! Both have the same qualities of a GSD except they don’t shed or they shed ALOT less ! I am worried if we get a standard poodle we wouldn’t stay on top of the maintenance they require ! Any thoughts ?

We have started updating our kitchen ! Friday our granite countertops will be installed and I. Can’t. Wait. We currently have horrible looking laminate tops that weren’t taken care of prior to us buying this home ! We also have decided to expand the countertop space by adding in a built in wine fridge! Yippee !! We aren’t doing much with cabinets except adding some hardware ! This will be a post with in itself SOON !

This morning I got a text message from don regarding tile in our bathroom! Uh-oh ! We have a walk in shower and the floor tile has started to come off ! We are SUPER paranoid that we have a leak .. Not to mention this bathroom
Is directly above the kitchen ! Another home project coming our way …quickly !!!

Just yesterday , we had 9 months to go until our wedding and now it’s only 6 months away ! Woah does time fly ! Soon we will be stuffing envelopes and sending out invitations ! I have registered at all the places I wanted to ( BBB, Macy’s, William-Sonoma, crate & barrel and lastly… pottery barn ). Registering was fun at first but became very exhausting !

I have not blogged about my running lately but yes I am still running ! I have stayed at running two miles for a long time but recently got the urge to lengthen my run! This is kind of weird but, I felt like my muscles were almost begging me to run longer ! Weird , I know but apparently it’s a common feeling for runners ! I have started running 4 miles ! ;0)

Happy Wednesday !!!

Race results

I am sure you have been sitting on the edge of your chairs, sweating and waiting on my result post ! NOT! Sorry to keep you waiting!

So about the 5k… I was a little upset with my self. After several weeks of training I did walk about 10-20 seconds, but that was it! It actually was more painful to walk instead of run!

I was petty t’d off because we ran on red brick roads! Word to runners in training . . . It’s a pain ! It hurts! And it’s slows you down (slightly)! I ended up jumping onto the grass to make it easier on myself and my shin splints- I ran on the grass alot through training. It does help !

I was anxious as it was but to make this experience even more dramatic it was scheduled at 6:30 at night! Who schedules a race, in Florida, at 6:30 PM??? The obvious issue is that it was
Hotter than hell, humid and on top of those annoying florida traits …it RAINED!!! It is kind of an expected thing here on a summer afternoon… Right?

Anyways… I ran a 5k, barely walking and I was 3:40 seconds over my goal. Oh well ! My finish time was 33:40 ! Not horrible but not great either! For a ‘first’ 5k, not going to break myself down ! After all, I am already signed up for another race in 2 weeks! GO ME!

It’s race week!

Tomorrow marks 4 days leading up to my actual race day…July 12! I am keeping up with training! Currently I am running ( no walking!!!) 2.65 miles at 25 minutes !

A lot of experienced runners may laugh at my short distance of 2.56 miles however, I think of it as an accomplishment for myself! Never have I ran this much consecutively with out walking ! My time is also not bad , but it’s also not great ! I am happy with it ! Tomorrow I will step it up by running 28 minutes with no walking for three days, finishing thursday with 30 minutes! I will admit I nervous and hope the adrenalin can help push me through !

Think I am done after that ? Not a chance! Although running is not my favorite thing in the entire world , I am going to continue running local 5ks and continue training during the weeks! Don’t forget I am a bride to be! I need to be get in shape ;0)

Happy Weekend!

Active Update !

Last blog entry I said I signed up for my first 5k in Orlando. I also believe at some point I have mentioned that running has been tough because of shin splints !! Let me just update you in my active life style !

On Sunday , I signed up for my 5k. For about three weeks I have been running with my neighbor not knowing we were going to sign up for a 5k. I bought the new shoes blah blah blah ! Well, my shoes have been a WONDERFUL relief
On my legs In addition to stretching BEFORE and AFTER my run ! My neighbor has us following the couch to 5k plan ! Today we had out longest and most successful run of 2.1 miles at 20 minutes and 17 seconds! NO WALKING either! We kept a steady pace for the entire run ! When my Nike plus app started the 5 minute countdown to the end , I started to struggle but
I was so happy ! I finished the run feeling so exhilarated!

It was my first time running 2 miles straight ( that I can remember ) without stopping to stretch or walk ! We kept each other motivated! I never have liked a running partner because everyone runs on different paces however it’s like love at first run! We have ran with the same pace and talked each other through our runs ! I just know we will succeed through the rest! She has been good support and I hope vice versus !

I am glad to say that I am ending the night propped up on the couch having a nice glass of wine !

Until next time, keep running, keep your head high and don’t give up !!

Booked, Bought, & Asked !

Wow , what an amazing weekend we had! Don and I traveled to Tallahassee this past weekend to officially begin the wedding planning process. Planning a wedding is a tad hard being an out-of-town bride however it is wonderful having a dependable family back home to help !

To start the weekend off, we arrived to Tallahassee Friday night and pretty much finalized the guest list. I am sure from here on out it will be tweaked here and there ! Secondly, we had an appointment Saturday morning to look at a venue. The venue offers a site for lake side ceremony and an indoor reception with a ‘PLAN B’ option for the ceremony if it rains! We really liked the 2-n-1 venue because we are
Inviting several out of town guest. Actually a majority of our guest are from
Out of the area! We both really liked it, so we BOOKED it! Check !

Later that day, my mother, grandmother and my sister ( maid of honor ) met up at a bridal shop to look at dresses! Both bridesmaids and my wedding dress. I needed to kill two birds with one stone ! When we met our bridal consult, I advised her of everything I disliked and did not want in a wedding dress. Finally after trying on a handful of dress, three which I absolutely loved but just was not ‘the one’, she brought a dress to me to try on. This dress would have been put on my DO NOT try on list. I tried it on for her and OH. MY!!!! I loved it, tried it on multiple times (to make sure) and I didn’t want to take it off. MY MOM BOUGHT IT! Check !!

Still on the look out for bridesmaid dresses! I found one I loved but not getting great feedback from the few bridesmaids I have asked ! We will see!

We met up with my cousin and his wife ( whom is one of my great friends) to
visit with them! She is a few days shy of 6 months pregnant and hardly showing. I can’t wait to see little carter blue ;) I asked her to be one of my bridesmaids! I was a little worried she may say NO with her being a new mom but she didn’t !!! I was so excited !

Lastly , I signed up for my first orlando 5k which is July 12 ! Can’t wait!

Happy Monday !

I can run for miles . . .hopefully !

I have been committed to biking since February ! I love it. It’s great exercise and it’s also fun. Such a rare combination these days ! A few weeks ago, a neighbor of mine asked if I wanted to start running in addition to my biking …I immediately said YES .

I love running. I actually began running about 2 years ago to train for my first 5k. I did it and loved it. Finishing that race was so thrilling !

20120514-201202.jpg

Not far after my first race I started to have severe pain in both of my legs. I always heard of shin splits but never had them. Since then I have ignored the pain and have continued to run off and on. BAD IDEA! I stopped running about mid-november of 2011 because the pain became unbearable I could hardly walk up my stairs ! I was finally giving in to the fact I had shin splints . . . Bad ones !

I figured after giving them time
To heal I would give it another try. We have been running appx 2 miles, three
Times a week. I have been pretty surprised that I have not had pain at all ! The healing worked .. Duh !

Not so fast … Last Thursday during our morning run it hit me like a big yellow school bus . I knew I should not have continued but I pushed through the pain and finished my run. I knew I immediately needed to do something .

I have been contemplating compression socks… But I don’t wanna mask the pain.

My running shoes, i thought were in great shape and were good for my feet ! I did not want new shoes! I figured all I needed were some insoles!

Today I went to the running store in Orlando and spent some time with someone who knew what they were talking about …. Come to find
Out my shoes were trail shoes and not
Ideal for the running I am doing !! I have really high arches in my feet that need support ( all from ballet I am sure )! They put my foot in the perfect shoe!! See pictures below ;)

I can’t wait to get up in the morning and try them out. Hopefully this solves my leg issues ;)

HAPPY RUNNING

First and Foremost !

I figured I would start my Blog … again. I am hoping to stick with it this go-around.  I know I will have much more to write ..Oops I mean Blog about :) I will tell you I am a HORRIBLE speller. Hopefully I will remember to spell check every post !

Since I have become a homeowner..( a very proud one to say the least ) I have continued my love for cooking and baking. I am going to try and Blog weekly about the things we are cooking and/or baking. We have started receiving  magazine subscriptions to Bon Appetit and Martha Stewart Living. I have made a goal for myself to try something new from each magazine. I also have a new obsession  for PINTEREST . I have experimented with several recipes that I will share … some good and some not so good. I also have to mention my boyfriend is a VERY picky eater. Cooking new things that he enjoys will be challenging .. so far everything has been good! I enjoy a good challenge!

I have started to run …again! ( Notice all these AGAINS…I get bored really easy) I have not set a goal for myself. This time around I will run as much as my body is comfortable with. Tonight I ran 2 miles. Go me! Time for a glass of wine. I will Blog more on this later.

Being a homeowner is fun and stressful at the same time. Cant wait to Blog about decorating and any home improvements we have on “THE TO-DO LIST”

You also may be wandering why I named my Blog: Eight Legs Two People. Well besides myself, I share my house with my boyfriend of 5 years 8 months and my 3 1/2 year old German Shepherd LOLA. Besides my family, these two are everything to me.

I am happy to be back ! Cheers to blogging
